About us

Branshill Plants is a small independent nursery propagating a wide range of hardy perennials, a smaller range of interesting annuals and biennials, and a growing collection of species, species hybrid and scented leaf pelargoniums. We grow a number of plants that you're less likely to find in your average garden centre as well as all our favourite, traditional plants that we couldn't do without.

The nursery was started by Rae, an archaeologist by day and budding horticulturist by night. A growing enthusiasm for propagation , followed by an RHS certification, and some volunteering at an independent nursery, led to the start of Branshill Plants.

About

Our nursery

Our nursery is situated at the very end of the bumpiest farm track we've ever come across, just down the road from Battle in East Sussex. We grow our plants from seed and cuttings, following practices we've learnt from other horticulturalists, gardeners and from keeping up current research into plant sciences.

Our plants are grown in peat free compost with no chemical controls used in our nursery. We prefer biological controls (e.g. predatory mites and Ladybird larvae). The plants are also grown alongside a garden with a healthy, thriving ecosystem that helps keeps most pests under control.

Our arrival at Branshill Cottage is fairly recent and the nursery's garden is very much under construction (the story of which is being regularly updated on instagram and in our blog).
